Duke of York Clipper Logistics Stakes (Group 2) 6f, 3yo+

SOCIETY ROCK struck for James Fanshawe under a fine Kieren Fallon ride as the six-year-old won for the third time at Group level.

Despite a slight scare when Society Rock bumped into the stalls as he was preparing to go in, which spooked him, Fallon's mount travelled sweetly and came with a sustained burst down the stands' side to deny Lethal Force in a photo.

Winner of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2011, Society Rock is now as short as 7-1 for this year's race (from 12 with William Hill).

Out of stall 18, Fallon managed to get into the main body of the field to get his mount some cover, with Mince bouncing out of the gates and travelling quickly into the lead. Favourite Maarek was not as quickly into stride, and was towards the rear on the far side.

Having been covered up, Fallon switched outside to make his challenge as Mince gave way in front, with Lethal Force also coming through to challenge. The pair battled to the line, but it was Fallon who got the verdict by a head.

He said: "He was very unlucky not to win here last year. I couldn't get too much cover and had to ease off him to get some."

Gordon Lord Byron was back in third with the fast finishing Hawkeyethenoo fourth, while Maarek did stay on to take fifth.
